As a child, I was significantly affected by the illustrations in the children's books I obsessed over at the public library. Artists such as Maurice Sendak, Quentin Blake, William Steig and Babette Cole engaged my affinity for monsters, beasts and odd creatures alike. The pieces for which I am best known are my stuffed cloth creatures (often seen sporting extra heads, horns, et cetera), linoleum-print cards, and sock dolls. With all of my work, I try to re-capture the grotesque, whimsical nature of a child's imagination.
